# ⚖️ AI-Align — AI Governance & Compliance

**Menu:** GOVERNANCE > AI-Align, with **Dashboard**, **Framework** and **Compliance**.

* **Dashboard:** overall compliance score, framework coverage, compliance by region (for example, Global, Middle East, European Union, United States, APAC), policy compliance scores and the top framework gaps.
* **Framework:** choose the frameworks and regulations relevant to you. Supported content includes NIST AI RMF, OWASP LLM Top 10, ISO/IEC 42001, MITRE ATLAS, Google SAIF, EU AI Act, GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS and regional AI governance frameworks.
* **Compliance:** run a compliance check for a policy. LockThreat maps your policy guardrails (and related evidence) to the framework controls, shows coverage and gaps, and lets you download a report from the dashboards.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Compliance checks consume credits. Coverage reflects what LockThreat can observe (policies, guardrails, scans); it is evidence to support an assessment, not a certification.
{% endhint %}

## 10.1 How to configure it

**Adopt a built-in framework:** open **AI-Align > Framework**, browse by region tab (Global, EMEA, APAC, European Union, United States, or Featured), and enable the ones relevant to you.

**Create a custom framework:** select **Create Custom Compliance** and complete four steps:

{% step %}

## Context

Select:

* **Industry:** Healthcare, Finance, SaaS, Government, E-Commerce, Education, Legal, Manufacturing, Other
* **Risk Level:** Low, Medium, High, Critical
* Optional base standard to start from: ISO 42001, EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA
* Primary use case
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

Enter the name, description, region, category and version.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Requirements

* Name
* Description
* Guardrails it maps to, such as PII Detection, Bias Detection, Toxicity, Prompt Injection, and others
* Severity: Critical, High, Medium, or Low
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Review & save

Review your framework and save it.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

**Run a check:** open **AI-Align > Compliance**, pick a policy and a framework, and select **Run Check**.

## 10.2 Errors you might see and how to fix them

| "Please select at least one guardrail" | A requirement has no guardrail mapped to it | Select at least one guardrail for that requirement |
| "Failed to create custom compliance" | The save request failed | Check your entries and retry; contact support if it persists |
| Module shows a credits-required screen | A compliance check needs available credits | Ask your administrator to add credits (see [14. Credits](#14-credits)) |

## 10.3 What success looks like

**Overall Compliance Score: 78%**

Real-time posture across 6 regulations · 142 requirements

| **Framework** | **Score** | **Region** | **Target** | **Trend** |
| ------------- | --------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
| NIST AI RMF   | 82%       | Global     | 80%        | ↑         |
| ISO/IEC 42001 | 65%       | EU         | 80%        | ↓         |
| GDPR          | 91%       | EU         | 90%        | ↑         |

Scores below your target are flagged for attention, and a downloadable report lists each requirement, the guardrails mapped to it, and whether it's covered.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://doc.threatreaper.ai/user-guide/ai-align-ai-governance-and-compliance.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
