# 🔐 Signing In & Platform Navigation

## 2.1 Sign in

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Open the console

Open the console URL supplied by your administrator.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Enter your credentials

Enter your email and password and select **Sign in**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Choose an organisation

If your email belongs to more than one organisation, choose the organisation.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Choose a project

If you belong to more than one project (tenant), choose a project. With a single project, it is selected automatically.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}

* Google, GitHub and Microsoft sign-in buttons are shown as "Coming soon."
* If your company uses LockThreat single sign-on, use the sign-in option your administrator provides.
* After repeated failed sign-ins (default: 7 within 10 minutes) the account is locked for 10 minutes.
* By default, only one active session per user is allowed. Depending on how your administrator configured it, signing in on a second device either is refused or ends the first session.
* You are signed out after a period of inactivity (about 15 minutes by default). A prompt lets you continue before the session ends.
  {% endhint %}

## 2.2 Accepting an invitation

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Open the invitation

Open the invitation email and select the link.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Set your password

On the **Set Password** page, enter your username, full name, and a password with at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter and one digit. The page shows live checkmarks for each rule.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Request a new invitation if needed

If the link has expired, the page lets you request a new invitation email.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Sign in

Sign in with your new password.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Until you complete this step, your status in the user list shows **Verification Pending**, and you cannot sign in.

## 2.3 Forgot password

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

## Request a password reset

Select **Forgot password** on the sign-in page and enter your email.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

## Set a new password

Open the emailed link and set a new password (same rules as above).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## 2.4 Self-registration (new organisation)

If your deployment allows it, the **Register** page creates a new organisation and its first administrator.

Fields: Organisation Name, Full Name, Email, Username, Password, optional Referral Code, and Deployment Region (for example, UAE North, or On-Premises).

SaaS registrations require email verification; On-Premises requests are followed up by the LockThreat team.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://doc.threatreaper.ai/user-guide/signing-in-and-platform-navigation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
